Apple’s MagSafe Battery Pack

In order to allow the MagSafe Battery Pack to recharge an iPhone a little faster, a new firmware update has been made available for it to use. Currently, the MagSafe pack can transfer up to 15W of charge to an iPhone when plugged into a 20W charger, but the MagSafe Battery Pack will be capable of transferring up to 7.5W of charge to an iPhone when not connected to a 20W charger. When used in a portable mode, it could only charge at a maximum of 5W.

In an update to its support page, Apple has included instructions on how to upgrade your MagSafe Battery Pack. To update the Pack, you can use your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. While connected to an iPhone, the Pack will automatically update while it is connected to the device – however, this may take up to a week. You can connect the MagSafe Battery Pack to an iPad or a Mac and the update should take no more than 5 minutes, according to Apple’s specifications.
