Apple stops signing iOS 17.3.1

Today, Apple announced that it will no longer be signing iOS 17.3.1 updates. This implies that consumers who have already upgraded are unable to downgrade at this time.

On February 9, Apple issued the iOS 17.3.1 update. It’s not a big update. According to the official log, the purpose of this update is to address the issue where text on the iPhone can inadvertently be duplicated or overlapped when typing.

As of right now, iOS 17.4—which Apple published on March 5—is the only version of iOS that allows signing. It mostly updates App Store, Safari, and other programmes for the European market and adds new Emoji.

In order to encourage consumers to maintain their operating system up to date and stop downgrading to earlier, less secure versions of the iPhone operating system, Apple usually prohibits users from installing previous versions of iOS.

Users with upgraded iPhones cannot downgrade to iOS 17.3.1 as Apple has stopped signing it.
