Google’s December update for the Pixel 10 series, released just a week ago, promised to fix lingering issues on Pixel 6 and newer models. Instead, it seems to have sparked a new wave of problems—this time hitting the touchscreens.

Reddit user tstrmr shared a troubling experience: their Pixel 10 Pro XL suddenly became completely unresponsive to touch after being locked and idle for a while. The good news? The phone itself still works—pressing the power button wakes the screen, and double-clicking it launches the camera, showing that only the touch input is affected.

Google Pixel 10 Series Update Causes Screen Touch Glitch

Currently, the only temporary fixes are restarting the device or waiting for a few minutes until the screen magically becomes responsive again. Attempts to use Android’s location-based “Extended Unlock” feature don’t help unless the user is at home.

Interestingly, the glitch doesn’t happen when the phone is in motion, like in a pocket, leading some to speculate that prolonged inactivity might be the trigger. Other Reddit users confirmed experiencing the same issue across both Pixel 10 Pro and standard models, suggesting it’s a widespread problem.

Google has yet to release an official fix. Meanwhile, some users recommend turning off the “always-on” display as a possible workaround.

This isn’t the first display issue for the Pixel 10 series. After an October update, users reported “blurry” screens, which Google later patched—but with each update, it seems new glitches continue to surface. Pixel owners are now left hoping the next update finally puts touchscreen frustrations to rest.
