Sony’s upcoming flagship, the Xperia 1 VIII, has just appeared in multiple carrier databases, signaling that the launch of its next-generation premium smartphone is approaching fast.
According to a report by The Walkman Blog (October 14), model numbers PM-1521-BV, PM-1522-BV, and PM-1523-BV were recently discovered in eSIM and mobile operator listings. These codes are believed to represent different regional versions of the new Xperia 1 VIII.
Adding credibility to the leaks, Qualcomm has confirmed that Sony’s forthcoming flagship will feature its Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Extreme Edition chip — a fifth-generation powerhouse built for ultra-performance, advanced AI, and next-level gaming efficiency.
The same top-tier processor will also power the 2025 flagships from Honor, Samsung, ASUS (ROG Phone series), and Red Magic, cementing its place as the go-to chipset for next-gen Android flagships.
Further database sightings reveal that the PM-1521-BV variant appeared in the Hot Mobile network database, while Sony’s Japanese carrier partner Docomo lists an internal model ID of SO-51G for the same device.
While Sony has yet to unveil details about the design, full specifications, pricing, or launch date, early leaks suggest the Xperia 1 VIII could push the boundaries of mobile photography, display technology, and raw processing power — continuing Sony’s legacy of innovation in flagship smartphones.
