We’ve all been there—one moment your earbuds are snug in your ears, the next they’ve vanished into thin air, leaving you crawling around the floor in panic. Thankfully, OnePlus and OPPO may soon have a smart solution for this everyday struggle.
OnePlus & OPPO Are Adding a Smart Alert If Your Earbuds Fall Out
According to a January 7 report from Android Authority, the two brands are working on a brand-new feature called “Headphone Drop Detection”. The feature was spotted in version 116.3.0 of the Huanlv app, which is used to manage OPPO and OnePlus earbuds.
This New OnePlus & OPPO Feature Knows When Your Earbuds Fall Out
Once activated, this clever feature will automatically detect when your earbuds fall out of your ears. When that happens, both earbuds will immediately start playing an alert sound, while your phone sends you a notification—making it much easier to track down your runaway earbuds before they disappear forever under the sofa.
There’s even a dedicated settings page where users can turn the feature on or off. However, the app does note that notifications may not appear if notification permissions are disabled or the app isn’t running.
Lost Your Earbud? OnePlus & OPPO’s New Feature Will Tell You Instantly
Most earbuds today already support in-ear detection, which pauses music when you remove them. But drop detection is far more advanced—it needs to tell the difference between an accidental fall and intentional removal. This means OnePlus and OPPO are likely combining both hardware sensors and smart software to make it work smoothly.
If rolled out officially, this feature could be a game-changer for forgetful listeners everywhere. No more lost earbuds, no more crawling on the floor—just smart tech doing the hard work for you.
